Going up the mountain

 03-11-2022

We'll be moving on today from British House down in the Old City to Hotels & Preference Hualing, hereafter referred to as Hualing, up the hill. We get everything packed (no mean feat!) and take the small stuff downstairs.  Our lovely hostess will have someone bring down the two suitcases.  Lots of stairs and curves and no elevator.  She calls us a cab because it is SNOWING and we don't want to walk to the Radisson Blu (Iveria Casino) for our free breakfast.

There are some close calls with the magic jackpot number, but the big draw is the free food and drinks. When we've had breakfast, again - too much food for any normal person! - and I can't be indoors one more minute, Ammar has the casino car brought around (!!!) The driver, in his gray suit, takes us to British House to pick up our luggage and then on to the Hualing!  He even stops at a pharmacy for Ammar!

Lots of charging stations for electric cars

I didn't realize we were getting a car from the casino!  There are sure a lot of perks!

It has been snowing the whole time, just lovely little flakes, but they are building up on the parked cars and the beautiful evergreens.  We have booked a room on the Club Level, like the one that Ammar talked us into last time we were here.  Imagine the looks on our faces when our room turns out to be a two-story suite! There is a bathroom on each level and the upstairs one has an enormous jacuzzi with a tv in case you can't think of anything else to do in a jacuzzi big enough for two. The bed is a California king and I think we might lose each other in it! Unbelievable!!

After we settle in - and I'm afraid to spread out too much, we'll never find all our stuff when we have to pack! - I need to walk in the falling snow.  Ammar won't let me go by myself in case I slip or decide to cross the busy street to the big snowy field.

I've been texting back and forth all day with the contact person for our wine and cooking tour on the 14th.  He has offered to arrange something else for us also and after a lot of discussion we settle on an itinerary for tomorrow.  His colleague, George, will pick us up at 9:00, here at the hotel, in a four-wheel drive van that will be safer on the roads for our "snowy experience" as Daviti calls it!  Should be a blast.

Downstairs I ask about the afternoon tea that is mentioned as being one of the Club-Level perks and the young lady sends us up to the 2nd floor.  The poor little guy up there has no idea what we're talking about but he comes back with a young woman who knows and she takes us back down to the first floor and shows us the "Club Level only" area with a table containing wines and soft drinks and tells us what foods are available for today's tea! Holy cow!  There's even dessert - cheese cake or a chocolate mousse thingie! I think this will be dinner! And the room is less than one hundred dollars a night!

It's an early night so we can get breakfast (included) before George comes to collect us in the morning! What a crazy day!

  1. Oh, I know you enjoyed the snow, both on the ground and in the air. And the food and the room are so opulent! Enjoy!
